Dr. Ananda Kumar

About Us

Born on July 21, 1965, Dr. Ananda Kumar is a dedicated agriculturist, businessman, and social worker. With an educational background comprising an M.A. in Sociology and an honorary 'Doctor of Letters' from Tamil University, USA, he brings a deep understanding of societal structures to his work. He is a polyglot, fluent in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English, allowing him to connect with a diverse spectrum of people.

Guided by a profound faith in Gandhism, Parliamentary Democracy, Socialism, and Secular principles, Dr. Ananda Kumar entered the political sphere by joining the Indian National Congress in 1986. Inspired by the visionary ideals of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he has spent decades continuously voicing out against social injustice. This commitment has led to significant leadership roles, including serving as the Chairman of the Karnataka Compost Development Corporation (KCDC) from 2014 to 2016, a member of the Telephone Advisory Committee for the Government of India (2011-2013), and a member of the All India Handloom Development Board (2007-2009).

Within the party, his responsibilities have been extensive. He served as an Executive Committee Member of the KPCC in 2018, Co-Convener of the KPCC Media Coordination Committee in 2015, and held key roles in 2009 as the Senior Vice President of the Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress, Member of the KPCC Election Campaign Committee, and Convener of the SC Department. His administrative expertise was further utilized as an Election Observer across multiple regions, including Delhi and Madhya Pradesh in 2008, Malur TP in 2009, Channapatna, Honganuru, and 6 Lok Sabha Constituencies in 2013, Chitradurga MP in 2014, Koppal ZP & TP in 2016, and the Koratagere Assembly in 2018.

Beyond politics, his life is defined by service. He holds honorary life memberships with the Indian Red Cross Society and Bharat Scouts & Guides, and is an active member of the Social Transformation Foundation. Through the Manasa Education Trust, Dr. Ananda Kumar provides charitable support to rural students. His grassroots initiatives include organizing over 1,000 mass marriages, hosting farmer conventions (Kisan Sammelana), and coordinating essential blood donation and eye camps. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he dedicated three years to providing sustained financial aid to those in need. Additionally, he has authored 10 books aimed at creating public awareness about maladministration.

His relentless dedication has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards. On the international stage, he received the Golden Pinnacle Award and Padma Bhushan Samman (UN) in 2024, the Mahatma Gandhi Samman in London (2015), the Kuvempu Vishwa Kannada Ratna in Singapore (2011), and the Great Son of the Soil in Mauritius (2010). At the state level, he was honored with the Sakshara Senani (2012), Nada Bhushana (2011), and Samaja Seva Ratna (2010). Furthermore, he has accrued over 14 national awards spanning more than a decade, including the Aryabhata, Abdul Kalam, Golden Medal, Best Citizen, Man of Masses, Social Jewel, Pride of State, Visionary of Excellence, Great Son of State, Kuvempu Vishwa Manav, Disciple of Mahatma, Rashtriya Ekata, Nehru Sadbhavana, Indira Priyadarshini, Karnataka Vikasa Ratna, and Rajiv Gandhi Ekata awards.
